In sex offense cases, clients come to me with this heinous charge, and their name is already being dragged through the mud. They’re already branded with this stigma, right from the beginning. It’s really frustrating because it’s at the beginning of the case, it’s at the beginning of the charge, and the facts haven’t all come out yet. It’s allegations, no examination has been done. No deep research into the case by either side has been done yet. You have this view from society, once you’ve been charged with it, that’s it you probably did it. People will make comments you know such as, “oh he even looks like he would do something like this”. It already tarnishes that person. And it tarnishes them i believe so bad that even if they come out not guilty or the charges are dismissed, that person will never really lose that stigma in people’s minds. But you know that doesn’t mean at all to just give up on the defense. To me that just drives me more to defend that person, so that i still do my best to clear their name, i do my best to defend them. No matter what the public might think.
